Hi Friends!
I hope this news finds you well. As I write you from sunny Miami, everyone is recovering from the Super Bowl and prepping for a major boat show. There is never a dull moment in South Florida! Although it may have been awhile since we’ve communicated, I wanted to inform you of some recent happenings in my life and share with you some very exciting news.
As many of you know, I moved to Miami in 2006 after spending almost three very fruitful years of ministry in Spain. While there, not only did I learn a new language, embrace a new culture and meet literally hundreds of great people, I also gained a greater perspective on who God is and what He is doing around the world. I was blessed to participate in what God was doing in the lives of hundreds of people from around the world. Lives were forever changed because of God’s good news, and my life was changed in being able to share it. Upon arriving to Miami to complete my college education, I was eager to find where God was already working and continue what God started in me years before in Spain.
Four years later, after some significant milestones of college graduation and marriage, I stand on the cusp of another leap of faith, just like in 2003 when I left for Spain, and in 2006 when I moved to Miami. After much prayer, the pastors at Calvary Fellowship, my church in Miami Lakes, Florida, have extended to me the opportunity to participate in a nine-month internship program. Already, I have spent most of the last year serving in the music and youth ministries of our church, and this program will afford me the chance to expand those roles. The program will also include working closely with the pastors and receiving training in various areas of ministry. Additionally, pulling off my experiences in Spain, I will be heading up local and international mission projects that will engage our church community with our neighborhoods here at home and abroad.
With any leap of faith, we Christians need a team of people surrounding us to encourage and pray for us. This is no exception. Going into ministry as a vocation is a decision that undoubtedly invites all sorts of attention, both seen and unseen, and engaging God in prayer will go farther than anything else we could do to support each other. Renata and I ask that you join us in praying for the transitions ahead, as well as pleading to God on our behalves that we continually seek Him first as we seek to be obedient to what He has called us to do.
In addition to prayer, we are going to need people to partner with us financially. The reality of the situation is that the internship is an intensive program that requires full time attention until the transition to full time employment beginning in January, 2011. We are asking that you prayerfully consider helping us move into this new stage of our life by supporting us monetarily on a monthly basis from April through December, 2010. We have developed a support matrix that we believe will enable us to meet our needs during these next nine months:
20 supporters X $ 50 = $1000
10 supporters X $100 = $1000
+ 7 supporters X $150 = $1050
$3050
If you believe, as we do, that God is opening this door at Calvary Fellowship, we ask that you come along side with us and contribute to helping reach one of the most un-churched areas in the country by supporting our cause. You can support us by clicking the appropriate button below.
